EVIL DEAD 2 (1987)
A young Sam Raimi co-wrote and directed this indie cult classic of the horror comedy genre, widely considered to be the best of the Evil Dead franchise. While walking in the woods, Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his girlfriend stumble upon a mysterious cabin with a dark secret. Soon Ash is tormented by demons (“Gimme back my hand!”) and there’s an absurd amount of blood and gore, with a healthy dose of slapstick humor. ("Who’s laughing now?”)
Rated R

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981)
Celebrate Father’s Day with this non-stop adventure, directed by Steven Spielberg, based on an idea from George Lucas. Archeologist and action hero Indiana Jones (“Trust me”) is in a race to find the mysterious lost Ark of the Covenant. The Ark is said to contain enormous power, and “Indy” (Harrison Ford) and Marion (Karen Allen) must find it before the Nazis do. (“Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?”)
Rated PG

SPACEBALLS (1987)
Celebrate funnyman Mel Brooks’ 100th Birthday with this affectionate spoof of Star Wars. Space mercenary Captain Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) battles the diabolical Dark Helmut (Rick Moranis) (“I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate!”) while John Candy is the half man, half dog Barf (“I am my own best friend!”) Brooks plays two roles: the incompetent President Skroob and the Yiddish-speaking wiseman Yogurt. ("May the Schwartz be with you!")
Rated PG

JAWS (1975)
Steven Spielberg’s original summer blockbuster, based on Peter Benchley’s best-selling novel. A killer shark is terrorizing vacationers at Amity Island and a trio of shark-hunters take to the high seas in pursuit. John Williams won an Oscar® for his ominous score (“Duunnn dun…dun dun.”) It’s been over 50 years and folks still think twice about going in the water. (“You’re going to need a bigger boat.”)
Rated PG

MAMMA MIA! (2008)
“Mamma Mia, here I go again…my, my, how can I resist you?” Start with the music of ABBA, add an all-star cast including Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, mix in plenty of romance and the breathtaking scenery of the Greek Isles, and you get one of the most joyous movie musicals ever made. With hit songs from “Take a Chance on Me” to “Waterloo” to “Dancing Queen” (“See that girl, watch that scene…!”)
Rated PG-13

THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984)
The beloved movie version of the popular children’s book about an 11-year-old boy who loves to read. He becomes engrossed in the story of a young warrior, Atreyu, who, during his journey through a magical world, encounters a curmudgeonly turtle, the “Ancient One,” (“We don't even care whether or not we care...”) and a kindly flying “luckdragon.” (“Never give up, and good luck will find you.”)
Rated PG

TREMORS (1990)
A small Nevada town is plagued by deadly underground creatures in this classic horror-action comedy. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as reluctant handymen-turned-monster-killers (“This valley is just one long smorgasbord!”) who get a helping hand from Michael Gross and Reba McEntire as a resourceful—and well-armed—survivalist couple. (“You didn’t get penetration even with the elephant gun?”)
Rated PG-13
