THE SHINING (1980)
Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel. Jack Nicholson (“Here’s Johnny!”) is the caretaker of a closed hotel with a really…bad…past. He and his family are virtually alone in the spooky old building. Or are they? Shelley Duvall, as Nicholson’s distraught wife, discovers her husband is turning into someone she barely recognizes. (“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.”)
Rated R
SUN OCT 6 & WED OCT 9
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 1 (2011)
Wedding bells are ringing for 18-year-old Bella (Kristen Stewart) and her dreamy 104-year-old vampire boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson). When an unexpected event cuts the honeymoon short and threatens Bella’s life, shapeshifter werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) once again proves his friendship for Bella. (“If you kill her, you kill me!”)
Rated PG-13
SUN OCT 13 & WED OCT 16
THE LOST BOYS (1987)
Sleep all day, party all night, never grow old…teenage vampire living in the 1980’s! A sleeper hit decades before the Twilight saga, this dark comedy featured a hot young cast including Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jamie Gertz and the Two Corys (Feldman and Haim) and, naturally, a soundtrack of pop tunes. It doesn’t get any more 80’s! (“Even though you’re a vampire, you’re still my brother.”)
Rated R
SUN OCT 20 & WED OCT 23
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 (2012)
Epic finale of the Twilight Saga. Newly-weds Bella and Edward are now a vampire couple (yes, it’s a new Bella) and the birth of their child brings them into conflict with the Volturi, the powerful aristocracy who control the vampire world. With the help of their werewolf allies, Bella and her family face the climactic showdown that will determine their fate. (“I thought we’d be safe forever, but forever isn’t as long as I’d hoped.”)
Rated PG-13
SUN OCT 27, WED OCT 30 & THURS OCT 31 (HALLOWEEN)
THE EXORCIST (1973)
EXTENDED DIRECTOR’S CUT, or THE VERSION YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE
William Friedkin directed this horror classic, nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, presented here with footage not contained in the original theatrical release. Linda Blair plays a 12-year-old girl whose bizarre behavior forces her distraught mother (Ellen Burstyn) to conclude that her daughter may be possessed by the devil, and that only an exorcist can help. (“The power of Christ compels you!”)
